The Famous ‘Mona Lisa’ Model was a man and also Da Vinci’s Lover?!

One of the most inspirational artists, Leonardo Da Vinci, is known for his paintings containing hidden messages and little twist for people to figure out. However, arguably the most infamous one of them all “Mona Lisa” has been the most difficult, many people have wondered who the model actually is.

The mystery woman case was thought solved when people were confident that she were a silk merchant’s wife, Lisa Gheradini, until now. The mystery has supposedly been unraveled by Silvano Vincetti, chairman of the Italian national committee for cultural heritage.
He believes the identity of Mona Lisa was held by a young man called Gian Giacomo Caprotti, he was also known as Salai. Vincetti backed up his statement with forensic evidence, and stated “Close examination of a high-quality digital copy of the portrait had revealed an L for Leonardo and an S for Salai.” Also he has drawn on several of Da Vinci’s pieces (St. John the baptiste and the Angel Incarnate) to outline similarities of the nose and mouth to the Mona Lisa. Salai and Da Vinci worked together for 25 years and is believed to be the inspiration behind several of the Renaissance artist’s works.

The French art historians at the Louvre Museum, which holds the Mona Lisa as a centre piece, have denied such allegations. Experts at the Louvre claimed that they have check the painting twice once in 2004 and once in 2009 and have not come across any numbers or letters.
Mr Vincetti (who has never had access to the painting) has called the experts in paris “really blind” and has said he will check the paining himself with his team and show them the letters and numbers.

His invitation has so far not been accepted.
