Driving Test Centres Could Soon Be No More

According to a leaked Government document, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) is looking at plans to close down driving test centres and making them into private firms, named “delegated examiners”. This potentially means driving examiners could be based at Supermarkets rather than test centres in future and also community centres.
The leaked document also shows that the DSA are overlooking several options to decrease costs, the Government are studying ways to provide more efficient driving tests at a lower price whether they be taken inside or oustide the public sector, this was stated by the PCS.

General Secretary Mark Serwotka stated:

“Worryingly, it is the latest evidence of the creeping privatisation of the agency’s work, which puts ideology before road safety.”
